About Colleen/Contact

Colleen, of Pink Spear Productions, is an independent television and film producer/director, as well as a journalist and author.

Her current project is a based-on-actual-events film, Unintended 1900. It is expected to be completed sometime late in 2017. She has also begun work on a fictional television series, Complete Bull.

Previously, Colleen directed and co-produced the award-winning documentary, West by Orphan Train, which was released late in 2014 and won a regional Emmy in 2015.

She wrote and co-produced the award-winning television documentary, “Train to Nowhere; Inside an Immigrant Death Investigation,” nominated in 2011 for a regional Emmy award. Her non-fiction book of the same name (Ice Cube Press, 2011) was the starting point for the film. The book was named as a finalist by USA Book News in “Best Books 2011” non-fiction multicultural category. Before becoming an author and filmmaker, Colleen spent a decade as a newspaper reporter, working at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and The Des Moines Register.
